Preparing for an Emergency – More Important Now than Ever
We are certainly living through unprecedented times. Very likely, you, or someone you know has been deeply affected by the coronavirus pandemic. This life-altering and history-making period is predicted to affect Canadians for an entire generation.

Through this time, in our own Windsor – Essex County, and Amherstburg neighbourhoods, we’ve seen the good (inspiring and generous donations), the bad (sickness and even untimely deaths) and the ugly (toilet paper hoarding!). These are all reminders of the importance of being prepared for an emergency situation, and with this being Emergency Preparedness Week in Canada, we’d like to encourage everyone to take three simple steps to become better prepared to face a range of emergencies.

On the links below, you will find practical information on what to do in case any emergencies should occur.

In Windsor – Essex, we face a number of natural hazards. Discover the risks in our area and learn how to prepare for different situations.

By definition, emergencies happen when we don't expect them, and often when families are not together. Having a family emergency plan will save time and make real situations less stressful.

In an emergency, you will need some basic supplies and be prepared to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours.

There’s no better time than now to prepare for an emergency. Involve your family, use the above resources and get started today!
