Tips to Avoid Wind Damage
High winds can result in serious damage to your home and property.

Here are a few tips to help you secure your home and avoid loss and destruction.

  • Inspect your roof, eaves, fascia and attic for signs of wear and have a professional repair any problem areas.
  • Regularly prune and maintain trees and shrubs around your home.
  • Falling branches account for a lot of damage during storms with high winds.
  • If severe storms with high winds are predicted, be sure to secure or store any items that may blow about and cause damage, including: patio furniture, barbecues, trampolines, decorative items, hot tub covers, pool toys, garden composts, garbage cans and recycling bins.
  • Ensure that pergolas, canopies, garden and storage sheds are properly anchored and secured.
