Controlling Pests in Your Home
Even the cleanest homes can have problems with insects and rodents. Being proactive with pests can prevent costly problems and improve the enjoyment of your home.

Here are some tips to help keep your home pest free:

  • Clean crumbs off counter-tops daily.
  • Don’t leave fruit or vegetables out.
  • Don’t leave dirty dishes in the sink or around your home.
  • Take the garbage outside daily and store it in a closed container.
  • Rinse out recyclables.
  • Inspect houseplants for signs of infestation.
  • Wash out your pet’s dishes and water bowls daily.
  • Treat your pets with flea and tick products.
  • Regularly clean behind your kitchen appliances.
  • Remember to clean out the food trap in your dishwasher as well.
  • Sweep and vacuum floors regularly and empty your vacuum canister regularly as it can become a breeding ground for pests.
  • Inspect vents and pipes for signs of infestation.
  • Repair window screens.
  • Seal cracks and crevices around doors and windows.
  • Keep wood piles away from your home.
If you decide to use chemicals to treat your pest problems, be sure it’s not toxic to people, pets and plants, or if you’re feeling by pests in your home, call a licensed exterminator or pest removal company.
