It's Time to Clean Your HRV
Do you have an HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilation) unit in your home? If so, it needs to be cleaned regularly to keep your home comfy and healthy!

Here's a 7-step guide to a happy HRV:

Step 1: Unplug and turn off your HRV.
Step 2: Clean or replace air filters. Every two months, remove the filters and give them a good vacuuming or washing with mild soap and water.
Step 3: Check outdoor intake and exhaust hoods. Make sure there's no debris or clogs blocking the airflow. Clear away snow or frost buildup in winter.
Step 4: Inspect the condensate drain. Slowly pour two litres of warm, clean water into each drain pan to make sure it's flowing freely. Clean any backups.
Step 5: Clean the heat exchange core. Vacuum and wash with soap and water to reduce dust buildup.
Step 6: Clean the grilles and inspect the ductwork. Remove and inspect grilles, then vacuum the inside of the ducts. If a more thorough cleaning is required, call a service technician.
Step 7: Service the fans. Gently brush off the dirt on the blades, and for older models, add a few drops of motor lubricating oil.

There you have it - 7 easy steps to a happy HRV!
